General Terms and Conditions

Please note before booking: Travel cancellation insurance

  1. MCO-Sailing strongly recommends taking out travel cancellation insurance before booking, just in case.
  2. If, as is often the case, payment is made by credit card, participants should ensure that the card provider offers insurance.
  3. In the event of cancellation due to illness, MCO will issue a cancellation invoice for submission to the insurance company.
Conditions

  1. Booking on the website creates a legally binding obligation for customers.
  2. Confirmation (by email) creates a binding obligation for MCO Sailing.
  3. The events correspond to the descriptions on the MCOSailing or MCO Sailing Academy website.
  4. Customers fill out the questionnaires and forms sent by MCO and send them to MCO by email.
  5. The organizer reserves the right to make necessary changes to the events due to unfavorable weather conditions and/or other nautical reasons and shall not be held liable.
  6. The organizer shall endeavor to provide adequate replacements.
  7. The skipper reserves the right to remove crew members who do not follow instructions or who endanger the safety of the event from the boat.

Cancellation terms

  1. Up to 6 weeks before the start of the event, the cancellation fee is 50 percent of the price confirmed by MCO.
  2. From 6 weeks before the start of the event, the cancellation fee is 100 percent of the price confirmed by MCO.
  3. MCO therefore strongly recommends taking out appropriate travel insurance.
  4. The booking can be transferred to other people after consultation with MCO.
  5. The trip can be canceled by MCO under certain circumstances (instructor’s sickness, breakdown of the boat, etc.). MCO will inform you of cancellations at the earliest possible opportunity. In this case, the course fees that have already been transferred to the account will be refunded to customers. The refund excludes any other expenses (flights, travel, equipment, etc.) that the customer has already incurred. The refund is limited to the cost of participating in the course, the trip, or the event.
Boat kitty

  1. The crew members pay equal amounts into the cash box. The cash box can be managed physically. MCO recommends that all participants install the cost-sharing app “Split” or “Splitwise.” These apps allow the cash box to be managed virtually, are very transparent, and greatly simplify accounting.
  2. The skipper does not pay into the boat kitty.
  3. All (!) communal expenses for the trip are covered from the on-board kitty. This includes marine fuel, mooring fees, food on board (not spirits), replacement of lost equipment, minor repairs (if not covered by insurance), permits for national parks, etc.

Payment conditions and options

  1. 50% of the price confirmed by MCO is due upon making the booking.
  2. If the amount is not transferred within 14 days of confirmation, the reservation may be cancelled by MCO.
  3. The remainder is due no later than 6 weeks before the start of the event.
  4. You will receive an online invoice from MCO Sailing (you can choose the payment method), as well as an invoice in PDF format.
  5. Payments are made by standard bank transfer or credit card.
